Madder roots powder (Rubia cordifolia)
Madder roots powder (Rubia cordifolia)
We now have available Madder roots (var. Rubia cordifolia) powder! The grinding makes the red dye extraction process much easier and these roots are famous for their hardness, which is to say that it is practically impossible to grind it so finely at home.
Madder is a herbaceous plant of the Rubiaceae family whose root, which contains alizarin, is historically used in natural dyeing to produce red shades.
These madder roots belong to the Rubia cordifolia variety, grown in India and Pakistan.
Madder is one of the dyes that we always use in our dyeing workshops and, as such, we like to be able to make it available in our online store for those who also want to venture into Natural Dyeing.
Recommendations
To dye 100gr of red colored fibers we recommend using 50gr of powdered roots. Using the same bath, it is possible to obtain progressively lighter tones, until it is exhausted.
It is available in 100gr bags.
